Metallic – 8 new shades that glisten. They’re just like regular Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball, but they’ve got that little extra bit of shine. Each of these soft, lovely colors has a complementary metallic thread running through it. However, the shine is subtle and doesn’t overpower the main colors. It catches the light to add a bit more pizzazz to the yarn.

Soft and light:

Both stripes and metallic variations are single ply wrapped with fine thread. It is soft, a little fuzzy and very easy to handle. Shawl in a Ball has a nice long transition that works into rich gradient looking piece full of depth. The finished product has a nice soft light feel to it. It’s pretty twisty and nubby, which creates a nice texture that almost looks to feel rough, but is quite soft.

It has been suggested to not use the end tucked in the center to pull from. This yarn likes to grab onto itself, also as it unwinds the skein comes loose and is hard to manage. However, other users have not had a problem with this. It’s a pretty thin-feeling yarn even though it is a medium weight (4) because of the texture. As a result, it seems like you would use a smaller hook, but stick with the recommended pattern size.
